1. What works are planned and when will they be completed?
We are redesigning the restaurant, old bar, events space, Boat House, remaining bedrooms and all back of house operations, everything will be new. We expect to have the re-launch in summer 2018.
2. Will the hotel, new bar & gym remain open?
Yes, we have 21 brand new bedrooms available on a room only basis, a new bar & terrace open to everyone (both locals and guests) plus the Gym & Spa, which will all remain open throughout the refurbishments.
3. The main entrance is currently closed - how are these facilities accessed?
The main entrance is closed to all vehicles (except construction traffic) at all times. Our temporary access is via Church Lane, just a few yards up the High Street from the main entrance - just follow the signs. There is parking for our guests, gym members and bar customers.
This does, of course, mean there will be increased traffic along Church Lane during the refurbishment. A traffic light management system will be in place and access will be required at all times. We would ask users to be mindful of this and to wait at the lights and drive slowly as there are pedestrians, cyclists joggers and children using the lane.
4. What food & drink are the hotel providing?
The bar & terrace is open every day from 7am - 11pm serving coffee, pastries, sandwiches, light refreshments and drinks.
We also recommend:
Pierreponts, café across the bridge in Goring, lovely for coffee, breakfast and lunch (open Fridays for dinner)
The Miller of Mansfield, across the bridge in Goring, 2 Rosette & Restaurant of the Year 2016, great for dinner
The Catherine Wheel, in Goring behind the High Street, lovely local pub
Sorry we do not allow take-away food in the bedrooms
5. Will the Gym remain open?
Yes, the gym is fully open with a newly equipped, air-conditioned gym, a full timetable of small classes, including a yoga studio right on the river, all led by brilliant intructors - new members are welcome.
6. Will the Gym Membership increase in price?
Membership will increase to £55 for new members from October 2017 (+£25 joining fee) including gym, sauna, steam & classes. Membership for current members will remain at £50 per month.
7. Will the Studio remain open?
8. Will the Spa and treatment rooms stay open?
Yes absolutely, we have upgraded our systems so people can now book online, simply and easily 24/7.
Obviously customers can still call our main number for info, bookings or to speak with Kate on 01491 878800.
9. Will the boat moorings remain?
Yes, in fact we will completely refurbish the terrace(s) and have new moorings for boats to pop in and have lunch or dinner (or stay over) next year. In the interim, during the building works, boats cannot moor in front of the hotel (rental moorings remain as is for now).
10. Will the mooring prices increase?
No, we will keep the same prices for 2017.
11. Will the mooring facilities improve?
Yes, we are including an upgrade of services within the refurbishment works and will inform the mooring holders nearer the time.
12. Will you still be doing events and weddings?
Not during the refurbishment works. However after this it will be a major part of our offering with a capacity of up to 150 standing - so plenty of space. And the great news is our largest events space will be entirely redesigned and will overlook the river. We are likely to start taking bookings from Autumn 2018. In the meantime we recommend The Great House at Sonning
13. Have you got a brochure of your events and weddings?
Not yet, however we are preparing detailed images of the proposed layout & design of the event spaces which we will share on our website soon. We will then begin work on our new brochure.
14. Can I hire the new bar for a private event?
On occasion, depending on the type of event and the catering needed – please contact us to discuss: email@example.com
15. If I have any other concerns who do I speak to?
Please contact Michael Westenbrink: firstname.lastname@example.org
